We Share an Uncommon Passion for Wine

The David George Winery was founded with the Vision of creating the finest quality wines. The old adage “great wine is made in the vineyard” is at the root of our philosophy. We strive to bring the best grapes to the crusher. We do not grow grapes we search for them. Since nature can be hard to predict we keep a watchful eye on all the appellations of California with the intent of finding the best sources for our wines. In pursuit of this strategy the David George Winery is positioned to have access to exceptional vineyards throughout California. These vineyards are the award winning and quality leaders of the region.

The next critically important step is the barrel tasting and selection process since the processing of grapes is not always predictable. David George Winery uses a comprehensive "barrel selection" process to identify the best post fermentation wines. David George only selects the barreled wine that is best suited for our high standards. We strive for "the best of the best". This focus requires time and effort. Therefore, we have limited our production to two varietals, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon. Our volumes are limited as well, since we only select the best barrels from hundreds of samples. This attention to detail and quality allows our wines’ evolution from grape to glass to reach the vintage's highest potential. The winemaking process has many important steps but for David George it is about the grape and the place it is grown not the vessel in which it has been stored. We find inspiration and great satisfaction in the production of great wines.
